July General Meeting Minutes

General Meeting

12 July 2023
Held at The Woodlands Harrington Grove

The meeting was opened at 5.30pm

Welcome & President’s Report – Anne Parnham, President

Anne welcomed everyone to the meeting including the NSW State Member for Camden, Sally Quinnell MP, all the Chamber members and guests.  Anne also welcomed the guest speaker Murray Goldschmidt and his colleague Mustafa Mohammed.

Anne noted:

  • the meeting that the Chamber is a not for profit organisation made up entirely of volunteers and there isn’t anyone standing to gain financially from being on the Board;
  • as President, Anne takes the conflict of interest part of the Constitution very seriously;
  • she then proceeded to introduce the Board members that were present and asked them to stand;
  • thanked Kelly Stanford from Stanford’s Solicitors & Mediators for her work as Sponsorship Director but she has had to resign due to work commitments;
  • there are pamphlets on the tables to advise what is happening with the Chamber;
  • the Minutes of the last general meeting were on the website, and if you had queries about the finances of the Chamber then please speak to, or contact, Karina Rauch as Treasurer;
  • remember that superannuation contributions increased to 11% on the first of July;
  • she attended the Camden Winterfest official opening last week which was a cold but very pleasant event.  Anne was able to meet the new Mayor Ashleigh Cagney and the new State Member for Camden Sally Quinnell MP;
  • Anne has an appointment with the Mayor next week so if you have anything you would like her to discuss please email president@narellanchamber.com.au;
  • a lot of members do not have their business details on the Chambers website, please check yours and update if needed;
  • Anne reminded members that the Chamber also has Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn pages that members can all join;
  • She congratulated:
    • Ian and Leanne Wolf for being one of only 2 sponsors for the Winterfest;
    • Byron Clima for winning the Outstanding Professional Services award in the Wollondilly Local Business Awards; and
    • Jose Ramirez for his Rotary Quiet Achiever award.

Anne had Garth Lewis from Alpha IT present and explain how he was able to recently help her with a scam.

Julie Lewis from Service NSW presented on how they can assist you should a scam happen.  ID support can help.  She also advised about Small business tax offset, and Energy savings.
