Now more than ever\, Camden needs urgent investment in critical infrastructure\, education\, and healthcare to support our residents and ensure a thriving future. \n‘The Time is Now’ is an advocacy publication and campaign developed by Council in preparation for the 2025 Federal Election and the 2027 NSW Government Election. It highlights the following key advocacy priorities: \n\nProvision of Rail Services including the full North South Metro connection between Macarthur and Bradfield\, via Narellan and Oran Park;\nEnhancing connectivity with road infrastructure;\nDelivering the Western Sydney Rapid Bus Project;\nMeeting the current and future demand for schools and education; and\nA strategic approach to healthcare and healthy communities.\n\nInvestment in these priorities will help unlock employment opportunities for our community and improve access to a skilled workforce for business and industry. \nHear from Mayor of Camden\, Cr Ashleigh Cagney\, and General Manager\, Mr. Andrew Carfield\, as they discuss the opportunities and challenges ahead—and how we can work together to shape Camden’s future. \nMayor of Camden\, Cr Ashleigh Cagney \nAshleigh Cagney is a wife and mother of four\, a community advocate and supporter of grass roots sport. She is a former Camden Rotarian and RYLA graduate; former member of the Board of Directors of the Macarthur Football Association; former Board Member of the South West Academy of Sport; and former President of St Clare’s Primary Schools Parents and Friends Association. Ashleigh holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Diploma of Business (legal services). After seven years as a Councillor on Camden Council\, Ashleigh is now the Mayor of Camden and is focussed on leading Camden with a vision to make it a prime destination to live\, work and visit. \nGeneral Manager\, Andrew Carfield \nAndrew Carfield commenced as the General Manager of Camden Council in November 2022 and brings more than 25 years of local government experience to the role. As the General Manager of Australia’s fastest growing local government area (LGA)\, Andrew is responsible for leading and steering the organisation and the LGA through a period of significant change and growth. A key focus for Andrew is to ensure Camden and the southwest region develop to their full potential as an integral part of Sydney’s future. \nPrior to joining Camden Council\, Andrew has held a number of senior executive roles at both Wollongong City and Sutherland Shire Councils. Andrew’s experience and responsibilities have included policy and strategy; urban planning and urban growth management; infrastructure planning and delivery; waste and landfill operations; environmental programs and botanic gardens; and compliance and regulatory programs.

DESCRIPTION:The Greater Narellan Business Chamber proudly presents:\nAndrew Lock OAM\nSUMMIT SECRETS – High Performance at the Highest Altitudes\nAndrew Lock is the most accomplished high altitude mountaineer in Australian history and one of the world’s most sought after remote area expedition leaders. \nHe is the only Australian\, indeed the only member of the British Commonwealth\, to have climbed all of the world’s 8000 metre – death zone – mountains\, an odyssey sixteen years in the making. But success did not come easily. He survived avalanches\, crevasse falls\, frostbite\, bivouacks at extreme altitude without equipment and lost more than twenty of his friends to the mountains. \nAndrew has also guided numerous teams to the summit of Mt Everest and to the most inhospitable environments on every continent on earth. He has trained and led members of the Australian Government’s National Antarctic Research Expeditions on multiple Antarctic expeditions\, and guided commercial groups across Antarctica and the sub Antarctic. \nAndrew’s story is exceptional because he comes from a humble\, urban background\, with no family links to the mountains. DESCRIPTION:Craig Hamilton\nMental Health Advocate – Keynote Speaker – Author\nCraig started his career as a broadcaster with ABC Radio in 1994. Craig is probably best known as a member of the “Grandstand” Rugby League commentary and has worked on the past 17 Grand Finals\, State of Origin series and a number of Test Matches. \nIn the year 2000\, on the eve of the Sydney Olympic Games where he had been assigned to work as a broadcaster\, Craig experienced a psychotic episode and was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. He spent 12 days in hospital and\, since his recovery\, has become one of Australia’s most high profile speakers on Mental Health and Lifestyle. In 2004 Random House released his highly acclaimed memoir “Broken Open” which gives a very personal account of living with Bipolar Disorder. He now has a second book “A Better Life”. \nCraig is now a much sought after motivational speaker around Australia who tells what it’s like to battle a serious illness. In sharing his story and experiences he offers hope to others. \nAccording to an ABS study\, 45% of Australians between the ages of 16 – 85 will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime. It is estimated that untreated mental health conditions cost Australian workplaces approximately $10.9 billion per year.
