He previously worked in politics\, the charity sector and briefly as a retained firefighter while completing his studies.\n \nChris joined the Labor Party in 1998 when he was 18 years old and was elected as the Member for Kogarah in 2015.\n \nChris has a BA from the University of New England and a Master’s Degree from Princeton University in the United States where he won a full scholarship to complete his studies.\n \nHe is married to Anna\, a businesswoman and lawyer and is the father of three boys\, Joe 14\, Nick 11 and George 5.

DESCRIPTION:The Greater Narellan Business Chamber proudly presents \nMr Rod Stowe | PSM\, FRSN \nJoin us as he shares some insights into how government policies and decisions are made \nNot all public policy making is the result of careful evaluation and analysis. People\, events\, opportunity\, can all have a hand in how critical decisions are made. As one of the State’s top bureaucrats\, Rod Stowe was witness for decades to this process. Now out of the hot seat\, Rod will share some of his observations on these events and the motives and people behind them. \nABOUT ROD STOWE \nRod Stowe formally retired from the NSW Public Service in November 2018 following a distinguished career spanning 41 years. \nOver this period\, Rod spent 30 years in the Fair Trading/Consumer Affairs portfolio where he held various positions\, including Commissioner\, Deputy Commissioner\, Assistant Commissioner for Policy & Strategy\, Director of Customer Services and Ministerial Adviser. Prior to these appointments\, Rod had postings in agencies covering environmental protection\, education and youth affairs\, local government and state superannuation. \nBest known for his achievements in consumer protection\, Rod became a familiar public figure through his regular media appearances as Fair Trading Commissioner and was one of the architects of the Australian Consumer Law. He also championed the introduction of the ground-breaking NSW Consumer Complaints Register and oversaw the successful implementation of the Consumer Protection Strategy for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. \nSince his retirement\, Rod has continued to be involved in consumer and community advocacy\, representing consumer interests on a number of Boards and Committees. Most recently he was appointed as TransGrid’s Landowner and Community Advocate.

DESCRIPTION:It has been a long time in between drinks so to speak! We don’t know about you but we are excited to get back to face to face meetings. What better way to do that than a Return to good old-fashioned Networking. \nOur November General Meeting will be all about networking\, catching up with colleagues and celebrating getting back to business. And while activewear has been the outfit of choice over the past few months\, it’s time to polish those shoes\, air out the suit and press that dress. Who doesn’t love an excuse to get dressed up? \nMembers will hear from our newly appointed President\, Steve Moore\, as well as be formally introduced to our new board members. \nAnd while you may have heard Christmas in Narellan is no longer going ahead as a live in-person event\, our CIN committee couldn’t let the 10 Year Anniversary pass by without a celebration. So you’ll be hearing all about how we haven’t let the COVID Grinch ruin our plans and instead created some great initiatives for our community to take part in. \nSo please join us at 6pm on Wednesday\, 10th November at Menangle Country Club .
